India launches ‘Operation Sindoor’; missile strikes target multiple locations in Pakistan.

India’s military announced it had launched “Operation Sindoor,” targeting nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In response, Pakistan stated it had retaliated by striking Indian military targets and claimed to have downed several warplanes.

The exchange of strikes comes amid escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, following a deadly attack last month on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir. New Delhi blamed the incident on Islamabad, which has denied any involvement.

In a statement released early Wednesday, India’s government said its military targeted “terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”
